Eligibility:
- Applicants must meet the Genuine Student (GS) requirement, demonstrating study as the primary reason for traveling to Australia and access to sufficient financial resources.
- GS criteria assess circumstances, course selection relevance, and career benefits.
- Minimum IELTS score of 6.0 (increased from 5.5 in March).
- Provide Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for all courses.
- Financial requirements depend on the primary course. From May 10, 2024, evidence of savings (minimum AUD 29,710 for a single applicant) is required to cover one year of living costs, tuition, and travel.
- Additional requirements may apply for dependents.
Dependents:
- Must be declared at the time of application.
Working Part Time:
- Most students can work up to 48 hours per fortnight during term time.
- Master's by research and doctoral students can work beyond 48 hours.
Costs:
- Application fee: AUD 1,600 (effective July 2024, 125% increase).
- Additional costs include health checks, police certificates, and biometrics.
- Health insurance is mandatory for the stay duration.
Post-Study:
- Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) PSW stream offers stays between two to four years based on qualifications.
- Bachelor graduates: two years; Master's by coursework: two years; Master's by research, PhD, and Doctoral graduates: three years.
- Additional one to two years for graduates in rural locations.
- Maximum eligible age for this visa: 35 years (exceptions up to 50 for certain research students).

Eligibility:
- Provincial or Territorial Attestation Letter (PAL or TAL) is required after confirming tuition deposit.
- Proof of funds: Minimum CAD 20,635.
Dependents:
- Must be included in the application.
- From March 19, 2024, spouses of undergraduate students are no longer eligible for open work permits (OWPs).
- OWPs are available for spouses of graduate students in programs lasting at least 16 months.
Working Part Time:
- Off-campus: Up to 24 hours per week during the academic year (Social Insurance Number required).
- On-campus: Unlimited hours for eligible students.
Costs:
- Study permit application fee: CAD 150.
- Biometrics fee: CAD 85.
- Healthcare coverage varies by province; private or institutional plans may be required.
Post-Study:
- Post-graduation work permit (PGWP):
- Effective May 15, 2024, PPP institution graduates are ineligible.
- From November 1, PGWP eligibility limited to in-demand fields.
- Length of PGWP depends on study duration (eight months to three years).
- Master’s graduates in programs of less than two years may qualify for a three-year PGWP.
- PGWP experience may contribute to permanent residence eligibility.
